CUPERTINO MAN SENTENCED TO 64 MONTHS PRISON FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

SAN JOSE – United States Attorney Joseph P. Russoniello announced that United States District Court Judge Ronald M. Whyte sentenced Gordon Jensen today to 64 months in prison for possessing child pornography.

Mr. Jensen, 48, of Cupertino, California, pleaded guilty on February 6, 2008, pursuant to a plea agreement.  He admitted in the plea agreement that in June 2006 he had knowingly possessed images of child pornography that he had downloaded from child pornography websites.  Mr. Jensen admitted to possessing over 130 images of child pornography, including images portraying sadistic and masochistic conduct, as well as images involving prepubescent minors.  Mr. Jensen also admitted that he e-mailed images of child pornography on several occasions to persons he met in Internet chatrooms.

The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Ronald M. Whyte following a guilty plea to a single count in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(4)(B).  In addition to sentencing Mr. Jensen to serve 64 months in federal prison, Judge Whyte ordered him to serve a five-year term of supervised release following his release from prison, and that he register as a sex offender.  At the conclusion of the sentencing, Judge Whyte also granted the Government’s motion that Mr. Jensen be remanded into custody immediately pursuant to the Bail Reform Act.

Joseph A. Fazioli is the Assistant United States Attorney who prosecuted the case with the assistance of Legal Assistant Jeanne Carstensen. The investigation was conducted by Federal Bureau of Investigation.
