FOUR NORTH RICHMOND DRUG DEALERS SENTENCED TO PRISON
Two Dealers Sentenced to Ten Years or More in Prison
OAKLAND – United States Attorney Joseph P. Russoniello announced that four North Richmond drug dealers pleaded guilty to narcotics trafficking offenses and were sentenced to prison terms as high as 130 months by the Honorable Saundra Brown Armstrong, United States District Judge. These guilty pleas are the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Richmond Police Department. The defendants pleaded guilty pursuant to plea agreements and were sentenced immediately after their guilty pleas as follows:
On April 1, 2008, Bobby Ray Williams, also known as “Berkeley Bob” and “Cutthroat,” pleaded to guilty to possession with intent to distribute approximately 77.8 grams of actual methamphetamine and was sentenced to one hundred and thirty months prison, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.
On April 8, 2008, Michael Green Johnson, also known as “Project Mike,” pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute approximately 192.4 grams of crack cocaine and was sentenced to one hundred and twenty months prison, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.
On April 8, 2008, Stephen Louis Montgomery pleaded guilty to two counts of using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking crime and was sentenced to ninety-six months prison, one year of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.
On April 8, 2008, Leonard Dan Gordon, also known as “G-Money,” pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute, and possess with intent to distribute, over 500 grams of cocaine and was sentenced to eighty-four months prison, four years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.
In pleading guilty, Mr. Williams admitted that on January 4, 2006, in Pinole, California, he knowingly possessed with intent to distribute 194.5 grams of a mixture or substance containing 77.8 grams of pure (actual) methamphetamine and later distributed that methamphetamine to a customer in the parking lot of the In-N-Out restaurant in Pinole, California. Mr. Johnson admitted that on March 16, 2006, he possessed with intent to distribute 192.4 grams of crack cocaine hidden in a house in North Richmond, California. Mr. Gordon and Mr. Montgomery admitted engaging in numerous telephone calls in which they conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.
The defendants, who have all been in custody since their arrest, will begin serving their sentences immediately.
Garth Hire is the Assistant U.S. Attorney who is prosecuting the case with the assistance of Legal Technician Cynthia Daniel. The prosecution is the result of a two-year investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Richmond Police Department.
