RICHMOND MAN SENTENCED TO 151 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR USING HIS RESIDENCE TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS

OAKLAND – United States Attorney Joseph Russoniello announced that yesterday United States District Court Judge Saundra Brown Armstrong sentenced Clifford Harris, 52, of Richmond, to 151 months in prison as a result of Harris’s conviction for using his Richmond home to distribute crack cocaine, cocaine powder, and heroin. Judge Armstrong also ordered Mr. Harris to be placed on supervised release for a period of three years following his prison term.

Mr. Harris pleaded guilty yesterday and was sentenced immediately after his guilty plea. Mr. Harris admitted that in April 2007, he used his home on Creely Avenue in Richmond to sell crack cocaine, cocaine powder, and heroin. He admitted that when agents searched his home in April 2007, he possessed approximately 76 grams of cocaine base, 709 grams of cocaine powder, and 36 grams of heroin.

Mr. Harris pleaded guilty to a one-count Information filed by the United States Attorney’s Office on March 24, 2008. He has been in custody since he was arrested in April 2007.

Derek Butts is the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney who is prosecuting the case with the help of legal assistant Katie Turner. The charges are the result of an investigation by the Richmond Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
