CUPERTINO MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

SAN JOSE - United States Attorney Joseph P. Russoniello announced that Gordon Jensen pleaded guilty on Wednesday afternoon to possessing child pornography. Mr. Jensen, 48, of Cupertino, California, was charged by an information on July 31, 2007 with one count of possessing images of child pornography.

In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted that in June 2006 he knowingly possessed visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Mr. Jensen admitted that he downloaded those images from child pornography websites onto his computers at his residence in Cupertino, California. He admitted to possessing over 130 image of child pornography, including images portraying sadistic and masochistic conduct, as well as images involving prepubescent minors. Mr. Jensen also admitted that he e-mailed images of child pornography on several occasions to individuals he met in internet chatrooms.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on May 17, 2008 before Judge Richard Whyte in San Jose. The maximum statutory penalty for possession of child pornography under Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(4)(B) is ten years imprisonment and a fine of $ 250,000. Sentence will be imposed by the district court after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of a sentence, Title 18, United States Code, Section 3553.

Joseph Fazioli and Susan Knight are the Assistant U.S. Attorneys who are prosecuting the case with the assistance of Susan Kreider. This prosecution is a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
